Titans (Final Phase)“Alright, ladies and gentlemen, this is Atlantic Fire, hopping on comms. Team Leaders, give me the confirmation,” I said loudly into the comms as I powered up my Titan with Alyssa in the other conn pod. The machine hummed to life, and I knew this was going to be the last ever deployment in my life. “Rock Gallic, connected,” I heard Dallas’ voice in my ears. “Hibiscus Dawn, connected,” Claudia replied with a little too much excitement. “Murder Witch, online,” Ari’s copilot said, with a grave tone to his voice. “Alright, Team 4, take it away,” I said, turning on the radar to reveal four Category V Kaiju swimming outside the sea entrance to the base. “There are four Cat V’s outside, proceed with caution. Empire Defender, take the lead.” “Very well,” a Russian man said into the comms as one of the larger Generation X Titans lurched forwards out of their bay and the other five Titans did the same, following their lead. Once the last one stepped into line, Murder Witch emerged from their bay and followed the six Titans into the enormous cavern that could fit ten or so Titans in it. “Exiting cave, shield, engaged.” “Wait for our call, should only be a few minutes,” Sierra Vigilant’s pilots said as the last of the Titans disappeared into the cavern. We waited in suspenseful silence as the Titans silently dispatched the Kaiju, not losing a single team member. “Team 2, you are good for advancement,” Ari said into the comms, and Rock Gallic immediately stepped out of their bay and marched across the Shatterdome to the cavern with the six Titans in their team behind them. “Guardian Foxtrot, Intrepid Resolve, proceed with caution, we don’t know what’s out here. Send out the mini drones,” Rule declared, and after he did, four more beacons popped up onto the radar, and started making their way down south to the wasteland. “Clear so far, Teams 1 and 3, we are locked and loaded, ready to advance,” Intrepid Resolve’s pilots said, and Team 3 began making their way out of the base, with Hibiscus Dawn leading the team. “Atlantic Fire, taking action,” I said, lurching our Titan forwards once our entire team had gone through the Cavern, and I took one last look at the Shatterdome before marching out and into the cavern. I flicked a switch before we submerged into the water. “Airtight seals activated.” “Marshal, all twenty eight titans are accounted for. We can begin the advance on your mark,” Rule said loudly as Rock Gallic stepped to the front of the group and activated their Light Radiator, a cannon on their arm that shoots a laser of condensed chemical energy that can slice through any earth material, and has taken down four Kaiju already. “You have my permission, take the drop,” Marshal Elba said, and the seven Titans in Team 2 started advancing ahead of us all. We started our move behind them, with Teams 3 and 4 on our sides, protecting the final team from any back attacks. “74 miles from shore! Fifteen minutes out! Nine Category I and six Category II Kaiju in the way! Team 2, take point and lead the way!” I exclaimed, checking the radar as we marched through the Baltic Sea. “Understood, Guardian Foxtrot, activate the land mines!” Rule yelled as all the Titans broke into a gradual acceleration until all were in a jog speed. Each step was one closer to our deaths, to an end of the war, to resurrection. “Signature rising! Four Kaiju in the bridge! Largest yet! Categories are unconfirmed yet, they’ve not fully emerged from it!” Someone from the control center exclaimed into the comms. “Three Category V and a Category VI, largest on record.” “Copy that, command. Alright, pilots, you heard em! We’ve got our largest threat yet! Don’t waiver your advance! We need to get to that bridge, even if those Kaiju are there!” I yelled as we picked up speed and could see the fifteen small Kaiju waiting for us. “Team 2, fire away!” “Wait for the explosion before the attack!” Guardian Foxtrot’s pilot yelled as every single Titan came to a halt in the advancement. “What’s wrong, they’re not moving!” Claudia yelled as Rock Gallic raised their left arm and turned on their other Light Radiator. “All Titans, brace for impact!” Dallas roared as a blinding laser was shot from Rock Gallic’s arm, and struck the ground in front of the Kaiju, activating the land mines that Guardian Foxtrot and Intrepid Resolve laid down. The ground cracked, and right as it did, an ear shattering boom resonated in our heads, sending a whining feedback into our ears. As we looked up, all the Kaiju were gone. “Stay on your toes, they could still be alive! Proceed with caution!” “We’re four miles from the Bridge, what are we waiting for!” Pharaoh Crypt’s pilots yelled into the comms. “We’ve come so close, why do we need to slow down?!” “We need to make sure we get there with full enforcements!” I yelled as we shifted our feet and I checked the radar. The four Kaiju that came through the Bridge weren’t headed anywhere, and just hovered over it. “She’s watching us…” “Who is?” A pilot yelled from Team 4. “Eleanor,” Rule solemnly said as he retracted the Light Radiator. “Make haste, we need to seal the breach before more come through!” “Break out! Go go go!” Pharaoh Crypt yelled as we all broke into a sprint to make the final four miles. “Change of plans! Teams 1, Hibiscus Dawn and Rock Gallic are going into the wasteland, while Teams 2, 3 and 4 remain at the lock! Rock Gallic, recon with me and Hibiscus on Arrowthorn, and other pilots, pair up and claim your Category V!” I yelled as I relayed the intel on the Kaiju. I got a confirmation from the three other team leaders before we made our ascension onto the shore, the edge of the bridge. “Vents opening, spread out, Team 1, Hibiscus and Gallic, stick close!” “Sir! This Category VI, it’s too big! It’s 322 meters and 14,500 tons! Let us handle this!” Pharaoh Crypt intervened, stepping in front of us, and holding a hand out. “We’ve made our mind, it’s our time. We’ll lead them away and finish it! My brother always told me anyways, pave a path for those after you! Don’t let it go to waste, captain!” “Understood, God be with you,” I said, severing the comms to the control center and stopping our advance. We watched their navy blue and green titan slowly enter the fog. In the distance, a thin blue light emitted, and I could see the size of the Category VI in the shadow. It was monstrous, terrifying, and something straight from hell. Pharaoh Crypt waved their sword in the air and caught the attention of the Kaiju, and blasted their sirens to get them to follow. “All pilots, take cover!” “What?!” Claudia yelled as Hibiscus Dawn dropped to a crouch. The four Kaiju slowly crawled to action, following the Generation X as it ran to the western coast, firing small missiles from their other arm to keep the Kaiju after them. Just out of my sight, the thin blue light stopped moving, and the Kaiju caught up to it, circling it, not sure what to do with it. I could barely make out the titan as it saluted before a voice came on the comms. “It’s been an honor, sir!” The voice rang before a bright light blasted from five miles away, and a massive shockwave was sent in our direction. “Carbon Sword!” I roared, activating the weapon and plunging it into the ground so we wouldn’t get thrown away. The invisible force lasted for at least a minute, before we were able to stand up. “All pilots, give me a confirmation! Are we alive?” “Team 2, standing strong!” “We’re still in this, Team 3!” “Team 4 accounted for!” Ari exclaimed as the Titans slowly stood up on their own time. “Alright. Atlantic Fire advancing, brights on! Let’s finish this,” I declared as we stepped down from the cliffside and into the wasteland. “Marshal! Get me the pinpoint location of the Bridge! Atlantic Fire is taking the drop!” “Very well. Relaying the location, finish it!” Marshal Elba ordered as the map zoomed in on a spot two hundred yards away. “Yes sir! It’s been an honor!” I yelled, turning our comms off to the other Titans and marching towards the bridge. “Well, Gabe, I can’t say this is how I imagined dying, but it’s worth it!” Alyssa exclaimed as we marched towards the bridge. “Atlantic Fire, stop your march, the Category VI is under you!” Marshal Elba roared, and the ground burst open in front of us, and the behemoth of a devil emerged from the ground, blocking our path. “Perfect! Activate thrusters and Carbon Sword!” I roared, pressing two buttons, one causing our Titan to be thrust forwards, straight towards the Kaiju’s face, and the other deploying our sword. We swung it in an upward motion, slicing through its burnt arms, and piercing the secondary heart as we collided into it, shoving it into the Bridge. Thousands of sensors went off from the bridge as we fell through, and I immediately began typing on the pad. “I’m sorry, but you’ve got to go!” “What?!” She yelled in confusion, turning towards me. “Live your life well, and be sure to kill Eleanor for me!” I yelled, activating her escape pod before we were completely warped through the bridge. “Gabe, no!” “Marshal! This is Ranger Wolfhart, I’ve made it through the bridge!” I yelled once her escape pod ejected, and the Titan was fully submerged into the breach. I pressed on the screen activating the Nuclear Vortex Turbine, blasting a hole through the Kaiju and securing its death. “Understood. Do what you have to do. All pilots! Prepare to disperse and take out the remaining Kaiju! And if you find Eleanor Mayfly, do not spare her life!” Marshal Elba roared into the comms. This was it, the final moment. But hey, at least it’s a beautiful sight I get to see. The bridge was a whole lot prettier than I imagined it to be. The glowing purple lights, the supernovas all around as if they were trees. “Eject pod reading! Go retrieve it, it’s Ranger Ford!” “Gabe! Listen to me! Whatever happens in my life from here on, serving alongside you will always be the best moment of my life, brother! Ride to die!” Rule yelled into the comms through the control center, barely audible to me. I reached up and activated the thrusters to stay in place as I detached from the conn pod, and activated the countdown. “You son of a bitch… You better live your life, man! Don’t ever throw it away, and keep them safe! All of them! It’s in your hands now!” I yelled as I crawled alongside the wall of the head and came to the self destruct box. “Nuclear countdown has been activated! T-minus one minute until the sealing of the bridge! Any Kaiju that makes it through, kill them!” The end wasn’t how I imagined it. Standing against the glass panel of the face, and watching as their world perished, and was severed from ours. It wasn’t painful at all, it just passed in a flash of bright light, engulfing everything I saw. “Ladies and gentlemen! We may have finished the war, and severed the bridge, but today is no day to celebrate! We’ve lost many precious members of our family, especially the lives of those who started our fight! Yes, the Kaiju may have been isolated in Antarctica, we lost nine pilots who gave their life for ours!” Marshal Elba yelled from an overlook to every person, worker, and pilot in the Shatterdome. The remaining forty eight pilots stood behind him as he spoke into a microphone, each one standing hand in hand. “The only celebration we will have is that of life! Celebrating the life our pilots- no… our family gave for us to finish this war! Ranger Gabriel Wolfhart, who died sealing the bridge! Rangers Alec Burson and James Steele, who died clearing the path for Ranger Wolfhart! “Rangers Bill DiCramer and Percy Hammerston, who died in the final push of sending the Kaiju down south, single handedly eliminating four Category V Kaiju! Rangers Maribel and Colton Frasier, who also died in the final push, giving their lives in an all out attack killing the last Category V in human territory! And finally, Rangers Helen Waters and Lucile Mitchel, for not only rescuing Ranger Ford, but also the sacrifice they made to kill the last Kaiju after the final Titans had returned safely! “The Nine Brave, the ones who died for us all, so we can finish this war, will be etched into stone for all of history! For brotherhood, for sisterhood, we are no longer coworkers, allies or workmates, but are now a family who will bring each other up, and bring us to glory!” He yelled with passion, his voice echoing through the Shatterdome, his words moving mountains. “Ranger Drew Rule, Pilot of Rock Gallic, one of the four appointed team leaders, has some words to say about our fallen.” “Thank you, Marshal. When I met Ranger Wolfhart, he saved my life not once, but three times. Off the battlefield and out of a Titan, he was an even better person than he was a pilot. All the times I messed up, and was arrogant, he was always there to help me and put me back in my place, no matter how low I needed to go. There are not enough Gabriel Wolfharts in this world, or enough left. He is someone we all strive to be, strive to reach for, and that, that is what we need,” Ranger Rule said into the microphone before bowing his head and stepping back into line with the other pilots. “For the rest of today, you may take off! Be with the ones you love, and starting tomorrow, we return to work! You are dismissed for today!” Marshal Elba yelled, and slowly, everyone in the Shatterdome began to make an exit from the bays. “It’s hard to believe it, he’s actually gone,” Claudia said to herself as she walked over to Drew and hugged him tightly. He wrapped his left arm around her and rubbed the back of her head with his other hand. “Yeah, but that’s life. People come and people go from it. And he just happened to go sooner than others,” Rule said, patting her on the back before turning to Alyssa and hugging her tightly. “I’m sorry, Alyssa. You knew him more than any of us, you were in his head. I can’t imagine how hard this must be for you.” “I-It’s our line of work, right?” She hiccuped, wiping tears from her face as she tried to hold back her screams of agony. She’d only known him for a few days, but those days felt like a lifetime to her....
Titans (Phase 11)“Ranger Wolfhart, Sir, welcome to the council. We’ve heard from the other pilots you were with, and each of them said your leadership skills were quite amazing, therefore we, the council, have come to a conclusion. You will be leading the army, as our General, and Ranger Rule will be your right hand man. On the field, your word is command over the pilots, and what happens out there, is on your shoulders, are you willing to take this honor and responsibility?” An old, well dressed man asked me. He sat at the head of a large rectangular table, which had twelve other people sitting at their respective places. “Yes sir, I accept,” I said, straightening my posture and looked him dead in the eye. He nodded and rolled his chair around, pressing a button on a small remote, turning the television screens on. “Atlantic Fire, as you said is nuclear, is that right?” He asked, looking over his “Yes sir,” I said, nodding to him. “We have twenty four Generation X Titans, further evolved than the Generation VIII we instilled two years ago, and the Generation IX we tested last year. You were briefed on these during the times, yes?” He asked, pulling up the diagrams of three Generation X Titans. “No sir, we were only aware of the Titans being used at the current time of the war. I was informed that this base is mainly a testing base, and that they’re not far ahead of the other bases in advancements, but I’ve been proven wrong, sir.” “Very well. I’ll make this simple as possible. The only other nuclear Titan that was made, Pharaoh Crypt, a seven month old Generation X, looking for proper use in this war, is listed in your team. I’ve heard from Marshal Richter, Kikuichi and Elba have all stated that you’ve a plan on this, Is that correct?” “Yes sir. If we can get one of the nuclear Titans through the bridge, we can blow it from there, and sever the connection of their world to ours, and use the remaining Titans to pick off the rest of the Kaiju. The only thing is, I’m not sure if the pilots will be able to survive, the only way would be if they eject from the conn pod a minute or two before it blows,” I explained, walking around the table and pulling up a diagram of the bridge onto the main screen where the other nuclear Titan was displayed. We’ve tried before by simply blowing it up from the outside, but if we tried from the inside, it just might work.” “I see, and have you discussed to your copilot about this plan?” “I have, sir. She’s agreed to the necessary sacrifice if we make it that far,” I said, putting my hands behind my back and turning towards the people around the table. “As I have already stated, I am willing to give my life, with or without a copilot.” “Understood. We will discuss this meeting further more, in the meantime, Mae is waiting for you outside to bring you to your team,” the lead man said, bowing his head. “Yes sir,” I saluted him and made my way to the door, but right as I opened it, a piercing alarm went off around the entire shatterdome. I whipped around and looked at the screens displayed and saw thousands of category I Kaiju signatures pop up onto the radars. “What’s going on?!” “The leader of the Kaiju’s attack… they’ve turned all the surviving humans into Kaiju! The Generation X won’t stand a chance against that many, with how powerful they are,” the lead man said, standing up and walking over to the screens. The remaining cameras that survived the final onslaught showed all the former humans laying waste to their homes, to the land they loved. “It’s over.” “As long as we remain under here, they can’t find us if we don’t make ourselves obvious,” another one of the board members said as they all stood up and walked to the screens. “You, take me to the other pilots, now!” I ordered, pointing at Mae as I burst out of the conference room. It took her a minute to process what I’d said before she kicked into gear and took off at a sprint, nearly leaving me behind. “Ranger Wofhart-“ Alyssa exclaimed as she stepped out from a hallway, nearly running into me. “Not now! Follow me!” I yelled, grabbing her hand and dragging her along. This Shatterdome, unlike my previous one, did not have a railway system, so we had to run all the way to the pilots chambers, which were the lowest floor in the Shatterdome. “Ranger Rule, Ranger Dallas, Ranger Sokolov, get your teams in here now!” I yelled, slamming my hand against a button that split the floor and raised a long table out of the ground, along with fifty or so chairs neatly placed around it. “Alright, but what’s the hurry?” Claudia asked as she hopped off the desk she was sitting on. “Just get them in here.” “Roger that, cap,” she said, saluting me, and walking to a door that was labeled H.D. and poked her head inside. She said something in Russian and then something in English, before walking back to the table and taking a seat at the end of the table that was closest to the screens. Her two copilots sat next to her, and the twelve pilots from their group filed in, sitting scattered out but next to their copilots. “Team 3 reporting in. “Team 2, here,” Rule said, taking a seat next to Claudia, and Dallas sitting next to him, and their twelve team members taking their respective seats along the table as Alyssa took her seat next to Claudia’s copilots and started fiddling with her fingers. “Team 4, live and blessed!” A familiar voice exclaimed as a door labeled M.W. swung open, and a girl with tan skin and short blonde hair winked in my direction before running over and pulling me into a tight hug. “I had hoped the rumors were true when they said you arrived.” “Ari, you’re here!” I quietly gasped as I wrapped my left arm around her and stared at the wall in shock. I’d completely forgotten that the Marshal said they were here. She pulled out of the hug and looked me in the eyes with a big smile on her face before letting go and walking over to sit next to Alyssa, as her twelve team members sat in the open spots. “Your team’s in there.” Rule said, pointing to a crimson red door with a black A.F. on it. I nodded and walked over to the door and cracked it open. Inside the room was a small lounge with multiple couches, a bar, and a television mounted on the wall. All twelve people in the room turned and looked at me as I stepped into the room. “Please come into the conference room. All the other teams are discussing the attack,” I calmly said, opening the door wider and standing to the side as each one put their drinks and snacks down and exited the room, sitting in whatever seats were left. Once I made sure there was no one left in the room, I exited as well, and walked up to the head of the table by the screens. “I’m not sure if the news has reached you yet, but thousands of Category I Kaiju have come through our radars. I know what you’re thinking, but it’s not from the bridge. The bridge isn’t physically able to withstand that amount of force and mass in a small time period. The Kaiju were made. The ringleader released a sort of toxin into the air, turning whatever human it touched into a Kaiju.” “So the war’s good as lost, and we should just blow ourselves up. Is that what you’re telling us?” A woman with brown hair asked as she raised her hand and stood up. “Maxine Wells, pilot of Generation X, Sierra Vigilant.” “I’m glad you asked, Ranger Wells, but no. Although this war is about good as lost, we can seal the breach. I’m not sure who they are, but will the pilots of Pharaoh Crypt please stand up?” I asked, picking a remote up and turning the screens on, showing a map of where we are to the bridge. Two men stood up, both the same height as Rule, just a little skinnier than he is. “I’ve heard your Titan is nuclear, just like mine. Our Titans are the only bombs big enough to seal that bridge, but I will only ask you to jump into that portal with me if you are willing to sacrifice your lives.” “Sir, there may be a chance we can seal the bridge, but I’ve got a duty to do, and that is to kill Kaiju, so with all due respect sir, we will not be jumping into that bridge. We will do our best to get you to it, but will not follow. I’m sorry, sir,” the taller one said, bowing and sitting back down. “Alright. Tomorrow, we’re going to attack in four waves. Team 4, Murder Witch’s team, will open us out. In their team are the heaviest and most suited for close combat Generation X Titans. They’re going to lead us out of the Shatterdome in the ocean exit. Once they quietly clear up any and all Kaiju around, Teams 1, 2 and 3 will make our way out. From there, Team 2, Rock Gallic, the explosive team, will make an advancement towards the wasteland, and secure a path for Teams 3 and 1 to get to the wasteland. That is going to be the hardest part. The remainder of Teams 2 and 4 will recon with Team 3 on the outskirts of the wasteland and make sure no Kaiju gets in, as Team 1, Atlantic Fire, to exterminate the Kaiju inside the wasteland before searching for the bridge. From there, myself and my copilot, Ranger Ford, will break into the breach, and blow it up. Severing the connection to our world. Does anyone have any questions?” I asked, placing my hands on the table and looking upon everyone. “Sir, how are you going to get into the bridge? I thought it was a one way trip?” An older male pilot asked. He looked to be in his fifties, and had a scar running down his face from his left eye to his lips. I recognized him. He was one of the first Generation III pilots. Ranger Trent Williamson, a legend among all pilots. Ten confirmed kills before retiring from an injury. I never knew he’d returned to be a part of the Sweden Project. “That, I’ve not come across yet. But I talked with the science team on it about a year ago, and they said it’s like a barcode. You know how signals pop up and then vanish? The Kaiju are entering our world and then going back to theirs, but the reason we’ve failed to blow up the bridge in the past is because the bridge didn’t recognize us as Kaiju, therefore closing on us and knocking the explosion back,” I said, picking the remote up and turning on previous attempts to blow up the bridge, each one failing after the next. “Any other questions? Good. Rest well, because we begin the attack at 03:00.” “Gabe, you can’t be doing this, I can’t let you kill yourself in this attack. You’re way too valuable to us for you to die. Even if it’s saving the world. We need you here,” Ari said, grabbing my arm and looked at me with pleading eyes. “I have to. It’s our only hope, I’m sorry. I really am,” I said, grabbing her soft hand in mine, and pulling her into a hug. When we broke apart, I slipped a small badge into her hand, and squeezed her hand tight around it. It was the Atlantic Fire badge that Eric and I received after becoming official pilots, that were ironed onto our coats as our symbol. We’d designed the badge together when we were cadets in training. He was my best friend, and I’m going to finish this war for him....
Titans (Phase 9)On my command, all of our titans lurched forwards and raced towards the three massive Category V, who began racing towards us. Our titan reached the lead Kaiju first, which was Spinace, a Kaiju that had a very large and boney sail on its back, and jumped up, aiming our cannon down on its face and swinging the sword, slicing through the sail on its back. Silver Judge raised a large war hammer and slammed it down, smashing it against the sea floor. The Kaiju shook its head in anger and jumped towards Silver Judge, wrapping its arms around them and began to crush the titan. “Atlantic! Get over here!” “On it!” Alyssa yelled as we raised our right arm running towards the beast and fired two shots, diverting its attention to us, and relieving Silver Judge. Spinace turned towards us, raised up to its full height and slammed its tail into the body of our titan, sending us flying into the open sea. Crashing down into the water, we quickly stood back up, but not before it was right upon us again, raising its right fist to strike our head, but Silver Judge swung the large hammer into its arm, and with a a sickening crack, the Kaiju screeched in pain as it slammed its tail into Silver Judge. “Let’s burn this son of a bitch!” I roared as I pressed a button on the control panel, and the turbine on the chest of the Titan released a funnel of pure nuclear flames that ripped into the belly of the Kaiju, causing it to flail wildly, but enough for Silver Judge to slam its hammer down on the Kaiju’s head one final time, this time killing it. We stood back up and glanced in the direction of Hibiscus Dawn, and saw that they just eliminated Flintlock, and then towards Rock Gallic, who easily dispatched the Kaiju. The three other titans converged to where we were, and we began making our way to the northern base. “Captain! What’s waiting for us at the Northern Base?!” Ranger Rule exclaimed as we submerged into the water, the advantage of the Kaiju. “Hopefully the base is low enough underground that the Kaiju can’t breach it, and the radiator signals have all been jammed, meaning we won’t be detected by them. In years prior they’ve walked right over it!” I exclaimed as I turned on our lights and marched into the deep blue. Hours later, we’d arrived on the coast of the Sweden, without needing to engage in a single fight. I pulled up on the map and began swiping through each sector until I found the hidden undersea entrance to the base. We traversed into an enormous cave large enough for us to crawl into, and we soon came to a cavernous air patch, allowing us to open our ventilation. A notification popped onto our panel, and I quickly read the message before replying back. A couple moments after I did, two large metal doors disguised as stone began to silently part, and created an opening large enough for us to stand up and walk through it. Behind us walked in Hibiscus Dawn, Rock Gallic and Silver Judge. “Jeez, look at this size of this place,” Alyssa gasped in awe as we marched through the underground bays. All around us were Titans I’ve never seen before, bigger than I was used to seeing, and in larger numbers than rumored. Flashing lights lead us past the Titans and to four empty bays where we parked our Titan and departed the conn pods. “Those Titans, have you ever seen them before?" “No, I haven’t I never knew that the Northern base had this many Titans, or even Titans of that size,” I muttered, rubbing my chin and walking over to where Claudia was standing with her copilots. “Ranger Wolfhart, a word, please,” Ranger Rule said, breaking me out of thought as he laid a hand on my shoulder. I nodded and walked about thirty meters away from Alyssa and Ranger Dallas. “Look, about my attitude when we first met, I apologize. I was cocky and arrogant, all because I’d been the first Generation VIII Pilot. I am indebted to you for saving us in that final scuffle.” “Don’t fret it, man. We all make mistakes,” I said, patting his shoulder and walking past him, towards a familiar face that I haven’t seen in a while, who was talking to Claudia and her copilots. “Alyssa, follow me.” “Ok, but where are we going?” She asked, jogging to keep up as I quickened my pace and went to raise my left fist. “Ah! Gabby! How’s my favowite wittle piwot?!” The tall girl with short hair exclaimed, patting me on the head before I could throw a punch, my face going red from embarrassment. She towered over me, being 5’6 and her being 6’4. Her brown eyes sparkled with joy as she ruffled my hair and turned back to Claudia. “I’m quite sure you’ve met Gabby before, he and I used to train together! I decided fighting wasn’t my thing, so I switched to Titan Technology!” “Don’t call me that…” I muttered under my breath, glaring down at the floor. “How long have you known him?” Claudia asked, patting my head too, which made me fluster even more than I was, and threw my hands in anger as I stomped away from them and to the railing. “I’ve known him for a couple days.” “Since we were in grade school! He used to be taller than me, but then puberty hit, and he stayed short!” The Titan Tech woman laughed as she leaned back, tears falling from her eyes from laughing so hard. “So Gabby! How’s piloting going! Where’s Eric!” “He’s-“ I began to say, but stopped myself. I whipped my hand up and grabbed her hand before she could pat my head again and glared up at her. “He’s dead.” “Oh, I’m sorry. I really am. If there’s-“ She started to say, but I cut her off with a wave of my hand. “Just bring me to the Marshal, and nothing else has to be said,” I growled, throwing her hand down to her side and walking past her to regroup with the other pilots. “Well, that was pretty weird! Anyways, follow me! The Marshal is expecting you nine!” She exclaimed as she walked with an annoying pep in her step, leading us to their Control Center. I hated everything about her, from the way she walked, to the way she talked, looked, acted, smelled, everything. There was nothing more that pissed me off. After ten miserable minutes of sulking behind the other pilots as they had a nice and happy talk with her, we finally came across the Command Center. “Here comes an end to our joyous trek! Good luck to all of you! And you, come see me after all of this!” She exclaimed flicking my ear, and easily dodging a slow punch I threw. “Captain, after you,” Ranger Rule said as he stepped to the side and gestured for me to lead them into the center. I grumbled under my breath as I placed my hand against the steel and pushed the light door open. This was one of the most organized Control Centers I’ve been in. No one was running around, not a single person raised their voice in panic, it was calm. More calm than the world was before the Kaiju made their first strike. “Good God, how is everyone so calm about this?” Rule asked as he looked around at all the overhead screens showing Kaiju ransacking the cities and the final Titans who didn’t make it to the underground base. “I don’t know. But it’s impressive, somehow,” Claudia sighed as we walked up to the large semi-circle desk in the middle of the room. A muscular man wearing a black suit, probably about 6’2, sat there, hands folded and a blank expression upon his face, and simply stared at us....
Titans (Phase 8)“I’m sorry, but I can’t let you do this!” I exclaimed, running and jumping from the claw and back into the Shatterdome. “No! All Kaiju, do not kill Gabriel Wolfhart! He will be in a red and black Titan, do not destroy it!” She screeched, reaching for me as tears fell from her eyes. “I will find you!” “Marshal! Where’s my co-pilot?!” I yelled as I burst into the command center, which was empty except for Alyssa. “Alyssa! We have to go! Now!” I yelled as I grabbed her hand and we ran towards the Bay that Atlantic Fire was in. We quickly suited up and got into the Titan, which was still running from the previous mission. It was all a blur, the first one we encountered, dead. The next one, dead. We kept making our way towards the one that was holding Eleanor, but it was already back in the water, swimming for the Bridge. In thirty minutes, all the Kaiju were dead, and the only Titan we lost was Rising Grasp. “Dammit! How could I fall for that!” “Hey, it’s ok…” Alyssa tried to say as she reached towards me. “No, it’s not! I got thousands of people killed because of my stupidity for thinking I could have a Kaiju give us the key to ending the war!” I yelled, slamming my helmet against the lockers over and over before throwing It across the room. Eight pilots died from my foolish decisions thinking that there was a chance that Eleanor was still alive inside that demon. “I’ll freaking kill her!” “Gabe, they are activating the Obstinate Protocol. Dozens of Category V have broken out. The remaining Generation VII from the other Shatterdomes and the Generation VIII are doing a last attack before we move to the underground shelters,” Claudia said as she put a hand on my shoulder, and pulled me into a hug. “Don’t worry, we’ll find her and save her from whatever’s controlling her.” “This is the beginning of the end…” I muttered to myself, trying to find out what she meant by that. “The Category V, they’re not even the strongest, there’s even more to come! She said there’s even more than the Category V, they’re just the foot soldiers, there’s probably Kaiju we can’t even comprehend!” “Get ahold of yourself, Gabe! We can still fight back!” Claudia exclaimed as she slapped me in the face and shook me by my shoulders. Her hazel eyes were ablaze with rage, but she still managed to contain it. “Just because we’re outnumbered for now, doesn’t mean we can’t regroup and rise back!” “Y-You’re right. I need to get back out there and hold the line for the people. They need to get underground,” I said quietly as I stood up and walked to where I threw my helmet. As I picked it up, I saw flashbacks from an old mission two years ago, holding a mile bridge as Killer Witch and Mars Launcher fended an old Category III off. “I’m sick and tired of waiting around for something to happen, let’s go help the fight now!” Eric yelled as we stood off the coast of Great Britain and watched from afar as the two Titans were in a deadlocked battle with the largest Category III yet. “As much as I want to, Marshal said we can’t! We’re a last line of defense, cause if it gets past us, who’s going to protect the people?” I exclaimed as I flipped the camera screens on and the footage from the chopper showed up on the hologram screens. The Kaiju had a long and thin head, its arms were so large it walked on those instead, and it had two long and thick tails it used to fend off the two Titans. “They can’t get close, not with those tails swinging around.” “Mars! Killer! Take out the tails! Stop focusing on killing it, and just neutralize it instead! Make it unable to fight!” Eric yelled as he raised his left hand and turned the comms on to the two other Titans. I looked back at the fight and saw Mars Launcher had grabbed the left tail and was cutting into it with its Elbow Blades. “Roger that!” The pilots exclaimed as the titan threw the tail behind it and into the water. “Killer Witch, handling tail!” A girl’s voice exclaimed as two red lasers blasted from the large back antenna, incinerating the base of the tail, allowing them to rip the tail off, taking away the Kaiju’s two biggest weapons. “Atlantic, does it have any other advantages to us?” “Not that we can see, take it down and kill it!” I exclaimed before I cut the comms off and turned the titan towards the fight and began to walk towards it, slowly gaining speed until we burst into a run. “Second signature rising close to the shore, Atlantic Fire taking action!” “Understood. Do not let that Kaiju into the city!” Marshall Richter yelled as we raised our right arm as we skipped to a stop, and slammed our fist down as a Kaiju burst out of the water, slamming it right back under, crushing its skull. We reached down and grabbed its neck with our left hand and repeatedly punched it in the head. Before it could hit back, we were already lifting it above our head and threw the beast towards Killer Witch who was running to assist. As the Kaiju was in air, Killer Witch fired their Shock Missiles, blowing the Kaiju into two pieces. “Second Category III dispatched! Returning to position, Sir!” I exclaimed into the comms and nodded to Killer Witch, who nodded back towards us before walking back towards Strider Zeta, and reassumed their positions as we did the same. That day, we’d killed a total of eight Kaiju before ending the five hour deployment. I held my helmet tight in my hands before walking over to one of the command panels and typed furiously into it. “What are you searching for?” Alyssa asked as she walked over and peered over my shoulder. “Killer Witch’s deployment. I ran recon with them for the past two years, and need to make sure they’re alive. And once I figure out where they are, that’s where we’re headed,” I said, clicking on a file that noted each deployment in the past hour. I scrolled until I got to the Titan named Killer Witch and opened it. “Perfect. They’re fifteen miles north, along the coast of Sweden. Except there’s a Titan Tech worker there I despise with my whole heart. We need to focus our attention there, since there’s the lowest amount of Generation VI and VII there. They also have the lowest amount of Titans, so we need to go, ASAP.” “Sorry, can you say that so the rest of us can understand?” One of Claudia’s copilots asked as she raised her hand. “What I’m saying is, we need to get a move on. Abandon base, gather the remaining pilots and make an all out strike on the northern shores. That’s where the largest underground Shatterdome is, and there is where we’ll concentrate our efforts,” I quickly said, putting my helmet on and hopping in place before running to the main speakerphone. “All pilots who are left here, this is Ranger Wolfhart, suit up and get on your way to the Elkwood Shatterdome in Sweden!” “Alright let’s go already!” Alyssa exclaimed as we split ways with the three pilots of Hibiscus Dawn, and ran to our own Titan. As we stepped into the conn pods, the drift took over our minds and the machine roared back to life as we burst out of the Bay and into the open ocean. I saw three Kaiju over a hundred meters away turn towards where we stood. Hibiscus Dawn stepped out of the Shatterdome right behind us, as did Silver Judge and Rock Gallic. “Ranger Wolfhart, awaiting commands, Sir!” Ranger Rule exclaimed from his titan as they turned towards us. “Relaying Kaiju information!” One of the pilots from Silver Judge exclaimed as a notice came up and showed the builds of the three Category V. “Package confirmed! Rock Gallic, you take Lancehead. Silver Judge, regroup with me on Spinace. Hibiscus Dawn, you take out Flintlock! All pilots, attack on my mark!” I yelled as we swung our left arm down and activated Carbon Sword, and our right hand transformed into the Thrust Cannon. “Three! Two! One! Mark!”...

RULE #1

keep the main gallery clean! I know you too well interwebs. Anything remotely NSFW goes into the “NSFW” folder. It's there for anything overly gratuitous like explicit violence or works with sexual themes. Please follow dA's terms and conditions and remember to add Mature Content warnings at all times.

RULE #2

submit to the right folders. They're there for your and other people's convenience. Art submitted to the wrong folder will not be considered for the Featured folder.

:bulletgreen:If your piece has a Kaiju and/or Jaeger as well as humans then submit it to the folder corresponding to which one your piece focuses on more e.g. Giant Jaeger with teeny tiny humans goes into “Jaegers and Kaijus”. Human with a Jaeger in the distant background - “Humans”. Still unsure? Then submit to whatever feels most right.

:bulletgreen:This group is for everyone and accepts all art. I have no objection to what goes into the “Shipping” folder ONLY if it follows Rule #1.

:bulletgreen:All written entries go into “Literature”. If you're stuck between “Literature” and “NSFW” I'll allow “Literature” as long as there are suitable warnings in place.

RULE #3

stay awesome! Don't steal. Don't give other people grief. Don't do anything that would ruin somebody's day.

We cool?
Greetings members and watchers, this is your admin nnaj. I have just returned from my second viewing of Pacific Rim. This has been looping on my mp3 for I don't want to mention how long.

Epic movie. Epic soundtrack.

Can't believe it's getting pummelled at the box office by Grown Ups 2

How many times have you seen it?

And what was your favourite thing about the movie?

I'm going to go for something less obvious than ROBOTS PUNCHING MONSTERS and say it was the themes of team work. While there was a lot of stereotyping it was refreshing to see characters from different nationalities working together and making sacrifices for each other. I wish more movies had such a positive message :)

I've seen it twice and will likely see it three times, I can't believe that something as juvenile as grown ups 2 is beating Pacific Rim! What happened to quality? I can't wait to get this movie on blu ray when it comes out and watch it over and over again!

Exactly. This is why we can't have nice things :(
It'll be a shame if people look at this and make a grown ups 3 but no more Pacific Rim.
